As we mark the 30th anniversary of the Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda, our co-founders Denise Umunyana and Celine Uwineza, both Genocide survivors took a moment to reflect on their personal journeys of survival, growth, and resilience.
I. Surviving Against All Odds
Having survived the horrors of genocide, we understand firsthand the depths of human suffering and the enduring scars it leaves behind. 30 years later, our journey from survival to thriving has been filled with challenges, but it has also been a testament to the strength of the human spirit.
II. Finding Meaning in Remembrance
For us, remembrance is not just about looking back at the past; it is about honoring the memories of those we lost and carrying forward the lessons they taught us. It is a reminder of the importance of unity, peace, and reconciliation in building a brighter future for Rwanda.
III. Growth Over 30 Years
Over the past three decades, we have witnessed Rwanda's remarkable transformation. From a shattered nation to a beacon of hope and development, the progress we have made is a testament to our collective resilience and determination.
IV. A Message of Hope and Healing
Through our journey, we have learned that healing is a continuous process. It requires courage, compassion, and a willingness to embrace change. As we share our stories, we hope to inspire others to find hope in the face of adversity and to embrace the power of resilience in their own lives.
V. Looking Ahead
As we look ahead to the future, we are filled with hope and optimism. We believe in the potential of every individual to create positive change and contribute to a better world. Together, we can build a future where peace, prosperity, and unity prevail.
We join the entire Rwandan Community as we commemorate 30 years of remembrance, resilience, and renewal. Together, we will continue to contribute to a world where the lessons of the past guide us towards a brighter tomorrow.
